Our local village Grassington is a charming place. It is the main settlement in Upper Wharfedale. Renowned for its friendly locals, pubs, cafes, shops, riverside walks it is surrounded by stunning limestone scenery and fells.
Once the main centre in the Dale for the lead mining industry in the 19th century, the farm cottages in the village were extended at the back to provide accommodation for the miners. These yards became known as ‘Folds’. One of these Folds, Chamber End Fold, is at the top end of the main street.
