Townhead, Buckden, Upper Wharfedale

The small village of Buckden lies on the Dales Way, at the northern end of Upper Wharfedale. The National Trust which looks after much of the Dale has its offices at Townhead Barn.

From the village there are gentle walks along the river Wharfe in both directions, the circuit from Buckden to Cray and across to Hubberholme gives the classic view of the U-shaped valley of Upper Wharfedale, and more strenuous still are the various routes up Buckden Pike and the crossings over into Littondale.
